O Lord, open my lips.
And my mouth shall proclaim Your praise.

O God, come to my assistance,
O Lord, make haste to my help me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

Acclamations For Reflection

Week 3.     Celebrating the prophecies of our Messiah’s coming,
His birth, and His return at the end of time.

  • Behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with Me, says the Lord, to render to each one according to his works.

  • The Angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, saying, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women”.

  • At the coming of the most high King let the hearts of men be purified, that we may worthily go to meet Him; for He really will come and without delay.

From Psalm 147

Thank God for His Blessings.

Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem, praise your God, O Zion.

For he has strengthened the bars of your gates, he has blessed your children within you.

He has established peace on your borders, he fills you with the finest of wheat.

He sends out his command to the earth, his word runs swiftly.

He gives snow like wool, he strews hoarfrost like ashes.

He casts down his ice like crumbs of bread; in the presence of his cold the waters freeze.

He sends forth his word and melts them; he bids his wind to blow and the waters flow.

He has declared his word to Jacob, his statutes and precepts to Israel.

He has not done so to any other nation: his precepts he has not made known to them.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is was and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading — Isaiah 33: 1 — 6

Woe to you who spoils, shall not you yourself be spoiled? And you who despise, shall not you be despised? When you shall have made an end of spoiling, you shall be spoiled: when being wearied you shall cease to despise, you shall be despised. O Lord, have mercy on us, for we have waited for you: be our arm in the morning, and our salvation in the time of trouble. At the voice of the angel the people fled, and the lifting up yourself the nations are scattered. And your spoils shall be gathered together as the locusts are gathered, as when the ditches are full of them. The Lord is magnified, for he has filled Zion with judgement and justice. And there shall be faith in your times, riches of salvation, wisdom and knowledge: the fear of the Lord is his treasure.

There will come forth a bud out of the root of Jesse, and the whole earth will be filled with the glory of the Lord; all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

You Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, you are not the least of all! Out of you the Ruler will come who will rule my people Israel.

Thursday

Watch zealously; the Lord our God is near at hand.

Friday

As soon as I heard the voice of your greeting, the babe in my womb leapt for joy, Halleluia.

Blessed be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people,

And has raised up a horn # of salvation for us in the house of David his servant,

As he promised through the mouths of his holy ones the prophets from of old;

Salvation from our enemies and from the hands of all our foes

He has fulfilled his kindness to all our fathers and been mindful of his holy covenant

In the Oath to Abraham our father, by which he swore to grant us

That, delivered from the hands of our enemies, we should serve him without fear.

In holiness and justice before him all our days. —

And you, O child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

To give his people knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of their sins,

Because of the compassionate kindness of our God with which the Orient from on high will visit us,

To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

# “Horn of salvation.”

Horn refers originally to the power of an ox. It came to be applied to people and here, to the royal saving power of the messiah.
