Acclamations For Reflection

Week 3.     Celebrating the prophecies of our Messiah’s coming,
His birth, and His return at the end of time.

  • Behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with Me, says the Lord, to render to each one according to his works.

  • The Angel Gabriel spoke to Mary, saying, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women”.

  • At the coming of the most high King let the hearts of men be purified, that we may worthily go to meet Him; for He really will come and without delay.

From Psalm 5

Morning Prayer

Hearken to my words, O Lord, attend to my sighing.

Heed my cry for help, my King and my God!

For to you, O Lord, do I pray; in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I offer you my prayers and I wait.

For you are not a God who delights in wickedness, nor may the wicked abide with you; the arrogant may not stand in your presence.

But I, by your abundant kindness, will enter your house,

I will bow down to your holy temple in reverence before you, O Lord,

Lead me in your justice, because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is was and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

From Psalm 118 [119]

The Love Helps to Avoid Sin.

Show me the way of your statutes, O Lord, and I will keep it perfectly.

Give me understanding that I may observe your law, and keep it with my whole heart.

Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight therein.

Incline my heart to your decrees, and not to greed.

Turn away my eyes from building vanity; through your way give me life.

Fulfill your promise to your servant, which was given to them who fear you.

Take away my shame which I fear, for your ordinances are good.

Behold I long for your precepts: vivify me according to your justice.

Let your mercies come upon me, O Lord, your help, according to your promise.

Then shall I answer those who insult me, for I trust in your words.

Take not the word of truth from my mouth, for I trust in your ordinances.

So shall I always keep your law, for ever and ever.

And I will walk on a wide path, for I seek your precepts.

I will also speak of your decrees before kings, and will not be ashamed.

I will be delighted with your commandments, which I love.

I will lift up my hands to your commandments and I will meditate on your statutes.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is, was and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading — Isaiah 26: 1 — 5; 16 and 17

Woe to the crown of the pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower, the glory of his joy, who were on the head of the fat valley, staggering with wine. Behold the Lord is mighty and strong, as a storm of hail: a destroying whirlwind, as the violence of many waters overflowing and sent forth upon a spacious land. The crown of pride of the drunkard of Ephraim shall be trodden under feet…

Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will lay a stone in the foundations of Zion, a tried stone, a cornerstone, a precious stone, founded in the foundation. He who believes, let him not hasten. And I will set judgment in weight, and justice in measure: and hail shall overturn the hope of falsehood: and waters shall overflow its protection.

Blessed be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has visited and wrought redemption for his people,

And has raised up a horn # of salvation for us in the house of David his servant,

As he promised through the mouths of his holy ones the prophets from of old;

Salvation from our enemies and from the hands of all our foes

He has fulfilled his kindness to all our fathers and been mindful of his holy covenant

In the Oath to Abraham our father, by which he swore to grant us

That, delivered from the hands of our enemies, we should serve him without fear.

In holiness and justice before him all our days. —

And you, O child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways,

To give his people knowledge of salvation through forgiveness of their sins,

Because of the compassionate kindness of our God with which the Orient from on high will visit us,

To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

# “Horn of salvation.”
