Part 1. From the Divine Office

O God, come to my assistance,
O Lord, make haste to my help me.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.

Acclamations For Reflection

Celebrating the prophecies of our Messiah’s coming, His birth, and His return at the end of time.

  • Whoever acknowledges Me before men, him will I acknowledge before My Father.
  • He who follows Me does not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life, says the Lord.

  • If anyone serve Me, My Father in heaven will honour him, says the Lord.
  • Let him who serves Me follow Me; and where I am, there also let My servant be.

  • Father, I will that where I am, there also My servant may be.

From Psalm 14 [15]

The Guest of God

O Lord, who shall sojourn in your tent? Who shall dwell on your holy mountain?

He who walks blamelessly and does justice; who thinks the truth in his heart and slanders not with his tongue;

Who harms not his fellow man, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbour;

By whom the reprobate is despised, while he honours those who fear the Lord; who though it be to his loss, changes not his pledged word; who lends not his money at usury and accepts no bribe against the innocent.

He who does these things shall never be disturbed.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is, was and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Reading — Hebrews 5: 1 — 6

Every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in the things pertaining to God, that he may offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to have compassion on the ignorant and erring, because he himself also is beset with weaknesses, and by reason thereof is obliged to offer for sins, as on behalf of the people, so also for himself. And no man takes the honour to himself; he takes it who is called by God, as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself with the high priesthood, but He Who spoke to Him, “You are My Son, I this day have begotten You”. As He says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchisedek”.

Hymn as a Prayer

Martyr whom no persecutor could overcome and follower of the Father’s only Son, you overcame your enemies and received the honour of a triumph, entering heaven as a conqueror to enjoy its pleasures.

Through the merit of your intercession cause our guilt to melt away, keep at a distance from us all infection from sin and drive away life’s weariness.

The bonds of your dedicated body are now undone. Undo us from the bonds of the world by the grace of the God of heaven.

To God the Father be glory, and to His only Son, with the Spirit, the Advocate, now and forever. Amen.

V. Tomorrow the iniquity of the earth shall be blotted out.

R. And the Saviour of the world shall rule over us.

Mary’s Hymn of Praise — St. Luke 1: 46 — 55

Elizabeth, mother of John the Baptist (Luke 1: 41 — 45), acclaimed Mary, warmly with the words: “Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb” — to which Mary replied in her prophetic hymn.

Let him who wishes to come after Me deny himself, and take up
his cross, and follow me.

My soul magnifies the Lord.

And my spirit rejoices in God my saviour.

Because he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaid, for behold; henceforth all generations shall call me blessed,

Because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.

And His mercy is from generation to generation toward those who fear him.

He has shown might with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the conceit of their heart.

He has put down the mighty from their thrones and has exalted the lowly.

The hungry he has filled with good things and the rich he has sent empty away.

He has given help to Israel his servant, mindful of his mercy.

(As he promised our fathers) towards Abraham and his descendants forever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Repeat the appointed antiphon of the day.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

Our Father, in heaven,
Hallowed be Your Name,
Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done,
On earth as in heaven,
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.

O God, for the sake of Whose Church the glorious Bishop Thomas fell by the sword of wicked men, grant, we implore You that all who request his aid, may obtain the good fruit of their petition. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, world without end. Amen.

V. Our help is in the Name of the Lord.

R. Who made heaven and earth.

May the all powerful
and merciful Lord, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
bless and preserve us.
